Firstly, thank you for taking the time to take a look at our website/blog—we appreciate any support we can garner!
UnSilence the Violence – Preventing Violence against Women at StFX is a Campus Community Project, in which young people are engaged to address violence against women. We work with diverse organizations and departments in the community and on campus, and are led by the Antigonish Women’s Resource Centre & Sexual Assault Services Association.
This is a two year project funded by Status of Women Canada.
In our 15 member Student Team, we work to create events such as dances and workshops in order to perpetuate a safer, more informed St. Francis Xavier student body. In this inaugural year, we have been working to collect data about the community in order to assess how to best serve the needs of the school. By collecting this data, the hope is that we will be able to create change and movement at the administrative level in order to allow for more comprehensive university policies which work towards preventing violence against women at StFX.
This website/blog will serve as a platform for the Student Team to discuss our work, our events, and the motivation behind the intensive work we’ve been doing.
Thank you for reading, and come back soon!
With peace, love, and resistance,
UnSilence the Violence StFX Student Team 2012-2013
